Placeholder на странице xhtml не проходит валидацию в w3

Имеется xhtml страница с формой отправки сообщений. При проверке на валидацию w3 выдает ошибку в строке

<input name="title" class="comments-name b-comments__name-i" placeholder="Ваше имя" maxlength="100"/>

страница с ошибкой находится по адресу http://dorogadushi.narod.ru/uslugi/otzivi_i_predlozheniya/

Ругается валидатор именно на placeholder. Говорит, что там нельзя чтобы был такой.

привожу отчет валидатора w3:

there is no attribute "placeholder"

Все верно, в XHTML нет такого атрибута, placeholder был введен в HTML5.

Моё мнение - забить на валидатор или поставить доктайп html5.

XHTML — миф. Валидатор обмануть еще можно, но браузеры — увы. Проверьте страницу в современном валидаторе, узнаете много интересного!
