Не работает white-space: nowrap

Здравствуйте, помогите пожалуйста.

В общем, есть вот такой кусок кода:

<table>
<tr>
		<td class="lefter">Теги</td>
		<td class="sports">
			  <div class="word">
					<div class="floatL"><input type="checkbox" id="chk1" /></div>
					<div class="floatL"><label for="chk1">Слово тег</label></div>
				  </div>
				  <div class="word">
					<div class="floatL"><input type="checkbox" id="chk2" /></div>
					<div class="floatL"><label for="chk2">Слово тег</label></div>
				  </div>
		  </td>
</tr>
</table>

вот кусок css:

table td.sports { width: 610px; background: #f2f2f2; padding-left: 5px; }
table td.sports .word { float: left; white-space: nowrap; }
table td.sports input { width: 15px; margin-right: 3px;  margin-left: 3px; float: left;}
table td.sports label { color: #000; font-size: 12px; margin-top: 2px; padding-right: 25px; float: left;}
table td.sports .floatL { margin-top: 5px; }

В Файрфоксе все Ок... В ИЕ - нет :o white-space: nowrap; - не пашет. Инпут и лабел переносятся на разные строки... Подскажите, что не так и каким способом можно решить данную проблему... Все и по разному перепробовал уже. Заранее благодарен.

почему?

ну вот так... если элементу не задавать размеры и его надо сунуть в строку с другими - лучше все-таки прописать display:inline;

как насчет такого преобразования:

<head><style>
#chk1, #chk2, .chk {display:inline;}
</style></head>
<body>
<table><tbody>
  <tr>
	<td class="lefter">Теги</td>
	<td class="sports">
	  <div class="word">
		<input type="checkbox" id="chk1" />
		<label class="chk" for="chk1">Слово тег</label>
	  </div>
	  <div class="word">
		<input type="checkbox" id="chk2" />
		<label class="chk" for="chk2">Слово тег</label>
	  </div>
	</td>
  </tr>
</tbody></table>
</body>
